Driving without Tax, MOT and insurane
12 Answers
My partner was caught by police driving with out Tax, MOT or insurance. He had to pay for Tax and MOT as they impounded the car. What sort of penalty will he receive, points and a fine? Just unsure to what they will be, got any ideas?

The (absence of) tax and MoT offences don't carry penalty points (or the possibility of a ban) but can result in a fine of up to 1000 for each offence.
Court fines are related to income, so it's impossible to be precise without knowing your partner's financial circumstances but, based upon the cases reported in our local newspaper, the following might be a rough guide:
No insurance: 6 points, 500 fine, 45 costs, 15 'victim surcharge'
No tax: 200 fine, 45 costs, 15 victim surcharge.
No MoT: 200 fine, 45 costs, 15 victim surcharge.
So, roughly, he's probably facing a total bill for around 1000 plus 6 points on his licence.

Why is he not done for possible attempted murder too, if he had hit someone there would have been no resolve for the ones left behind.
They deserve more then what they get in my opinion, it is like walking around the street with a loaded gun in thier hads.... Chimpanzees that is...
Sorry, but it makes my blood boil, we pay hundreds and hundreds of pound a year to drive legally in consideration of others, they drive with only consideration for themselves.
Too Soft this society Grrrr!

Does he break any other laws or just these driving ones???
Does he steal? Speed? Get drunk and drive? SHoplift?
He's doing a pretty good job at breaking the laws that most of us manage to abide by - it makes you wonder what else someone with such disregard for the law would do too!
bet this isnt the only thing he does wrong! Bet you 100 here and now!!

He will probably have bought a knocked off MOT ticket since he probably drives a PoS that would be road legal anyway - hence the fact he never bothered with tax or insurance either.
And you are right - you cant buy tax without proof of insurance so this question must be either a lie or factually incorrect.
Perhaps thats what he told his GF he did!
