Rules on speeding
5 Answers
My partner recd a speeding fine yesterday from a mobile Police camera. He was driving his works van, which is diesel and has literally travelled a few yards before being “supposedly” zapped at 40mph. Funny thing is, is that a customer of his also recd a fine for exactly the same thing and exactly at 40 mph .. not 38, 41, etc but bang on the 40mph mark!!
He was a little suspect as the works van could not have picked up that much speed in the distance he travelled before being snapped. There are no speed signs in the area and a friend has mentioned that depending on the distance between the lamp posts, will determine the speed for the road area. Has anyone heard this??

When signs are used there must be repeater signs within certain distances depending on junction proximity and a whole load of things. Where the limit is effectively 30 by the lamp post rule then no repeater signs are necessary.
Personally I'd say there's more milage in arguing the toss about how they arrved at 40mph rather rthan what the limit is, sounds like it is a 30 limit to me.

why dont you just keep it short and sweet. When you get notice of intended prosecution through the post just say you was not the driver. They will ask you to give name or else u get served notice. You say the name given to me by the mechanic who took my car was blah blah blah....legally nothing they can dop!!!!! works for me every time!
