I heard a clip of a wartime song this morning and have been going barmy trying to figure out what it was and would appreciate your help. It's a female akin to Vera Lynn but don't think it was her, very melodious with a Glenn Miller type orchestral backing. Some words are similar to why should I be feeling/seeing stars upon my ceiling every time I think(?) of you. I've googled the words and sung it to shazam with no luck. I'm pretty sure it was a well known wartime classic. Any ideas?
There was a song by Glenn Miller I know Why and it was lip-synched by Lynn Bari in the movie Sun Valley Serenade to a singer called Pat Friday. You could look it up and see if it sounds familiar.

Gill that's correct you are brilliant. So it is a Glenn Miller song. Maybe others recorded it - I know why and so do you - having listened the voice didn't sound quite like the Ann Shelton version. Many thanks to all of you, you've been really helpful :-)
As an update only for those interested, I have now found the song list for the movie in which I heard it (as a song on the radio in the background). It is just credited to Glenn Miller with the female vocal unnamed, which would explain why I didn't think it was the Ann Shelton version.
If the movie was made, or set, in the UK, Anne Shelton's version of the song would probably have been the one that was chosen. If it was made, or set, in the USA, June Christy's version might possibly have been the one that was used:
