Thoughts on the Diana concert
A great event for a great cause, but: Why couldn't William and Harry even say 'thank you' without using cue-cards? You'd have they of all people would be accustomed to public speaking. Why didn't Di's mate George Michael take part? Why hadn't the sound-desk learnt from the mistakes of Live Aid (in 1985!!!)? Don't you think Ricky Gervaise really was annoyed, and why couldn't he come up with a few jokes as he does stand-up shows? Why the anti-climactic ending? I thought P Diddy's contribution was the most moving - how about you?

I totally agree about Ricky Gervais, he couldn't pull anything out of the 'spontaneous' bag but then again, it left the viewer wondering if that was how it was supposed to be, as his persona is 'cringeworthy' in general!
I did also notice by their body language, that Harry and his girlfriend must have fallen out somethime during the proceedings. They kept away from each other, avoided eye contact and when they all had arms over each other's shoulders, there was a gaping hole!

I posted my thoughts on the TV Topics, before I read these on the News Topic.
i would just like to add that when at the end Elton John finally made his grand entrance in that Tramp like rig-out he was wearing, I thought he was about to sing the old Fred Astaire/Judy Garland rendition of ' We're just a couple of swells, we live in the best hotels ' from the film Easter Parade.
The Man's ??? a complete joke.

Am I alone in thinking it was a waste of TV time? I did not watch all of it - just dipped in and out but I saw Ricky Gervaise - best thing on - and Take That. The rest we glimpsed briefly for a laugh more than anything. The P Diddy was weired singing a police song about an obsessive stalker!!!
To be honest it reminded me of a Christian pop concert with parents getting down with their kids
