"Curling" Vinyl Roller Blinds - How to "weight" them down?

I like the "old fashioned" look of roller blinds in my '30's craftsman style home. However, the side edges curl outward when they are pulled down. Does any one have any ideas on how I can weight the edges without causing bulk when they are rolled up. They are a cream-color with no design at all, except for a 6" panel below the grip-bar with plain cream-colored cotton braid at the bottom edge, I'm not sure what's on the market when it comes to something adhering to the vinyl (i.e., paint, thin color strips, etc.) Any and all ideas are gratefully appreciated - my brain is exhausted.

I've been having the same problem - it really defeats the purpose of getting "black out shades" if they curl so much that they let all the light in around the edges! My current solution has been to tape the edges with 2 pieces of masking tape all the way across, but this is ugly and annoying to stick on every night and pull off every morning.

I have 2 other theories that I haven't tried yet:
1. My shades are dirty and greasy to the touch (they are about 13 years old). Maybe if I cleaned them they would hang straighter.
2. Maybe rolling the shade tightly in the opposite direction for a bit would encourage it to curl the other way, and it would straighten out?

Hopefully I'll get around to trying these soon. let me know if you come up with anything else that works.

When roller blinds are made with quality balckout fabrics that would not happen. PVC type of materials should be avoided.
