This man fascinates me! He's just released a new album at the age of 63!!! (Welcome 2 my nightmare ) I remember watching an interview with him .. think it was the One Show? .. I thought he came across as a really lovely & talented man! New album here with Alice talking about each track.
I've been listening to Alice's 'Im Eighteen' since I was eighteen - we go back that far! When i got into the wonderful Cooper band, there were just three albums out, and i loved all of them - and I was at his press conference at Download, and he looked and sounded great.
Very clever and intelligent musician - one of the first to blow open the myth that individuals are the same as the art they create.
andy,
I confess to not owning a single track of his .. but I grew up listening to Schools Out/ Poison / Only Women Bleed ect .. Very talented man to still be releasing all these years down the line!!
I also enjoyed watching the photographer with whom i was working do her stuff.
She is very attractive - and when, from the mass of cameras, she says "Over here please ..." the musician in question always looks over, and being usually male, the do a double-take at her, and that's when she snaps them! great pics every time!
Don't quite follow why you think that releasing an album at the age of 63 is so surprising. Elton John, Mick Jagger and Paul McCartney are all in their 60s. Cliff Richard is over 70 and Leonard Cohen started a 2-year worldwide tour at the age of 74 three years ago. Bob Dylan and Neil Diamond have both had #1 albums her in the past couple of years at over 70. The list goes on....
I saw that interview quassia and like you I was impressed by him. Don't know why he had to adopt that make-up and funny name, but I suppose it was to get himself noticed in the first place. Now that he is established he doesn't need it.
Starbuck .. according to wiki his stage 'look' was inspired in part by the Bette Davis character in 'Whatever Happened To Baby Jane' where her makeup was smeared. Also according to wiki .. the name 'Alice Cooper' was in fact originally 'owned' by the whole of the band .. not the lead singer & apparently.. Alice pays a yearly royalty to his original band mates for the right to use the name commercially!
