Laptop Wont Play Film

can anyone help me please? I have tried to play a new dvd on my laptop but it will only play the trailers of other films, then goes blank and won't play the film itself, I have played other dvd's with no problems, what'swrong? is it me?

Have you tried taking it out and giving it a wipe or trying it on another player. failing this I'd take it back and tell them it is faulty
