My partner is a big film fan, and we have about 200 vhs tapes at home (not just the pre-recorded type, but the ones you tape onto yourself). He's been in the process of replacing them all with dvds / recordable dvs for some time and now we're getting a lot of redundant tapes knocking about. The pre-recorded ones I'm glad to give to charity, but what can I do with the others? They have stufff taped off the tv on most of them, so not totally blank. I was just wondering if there is an organisation I can donate them to, or one that recycles them? Any ideas? Feel guilty about creating a vhs mountain!

The same thing happened with Vinyl . I used to see van loads of records being dumped in skips at the local Refuse Dump . I bet there was a few classics in there as well as a load of dross of course.

As to what to do with the tapes , I have the same dilema with my collection.

No help I know , but just a point.

There's a company in Herefordshire who recycle all sorts of plastics including VHS. You can always give them a go.
