Getting the song names
6 Answers
I got a heap of albums in MP4 format. They are all in my iTunes now and although the artist and album name is correct, quite a few of them say 'Tune 1' 'Tune 2' etc, as the song titles.
How can I get this updated to reflect the song names without having to re-name them all by hand?

it will attempt to check the internet and get the song names if it can, I would suggest doing an album at a time so you can check it gets it right, having the wrong name and tag is more annoying than having none at all
but to be honest I haven't found a 100% reliable way of doing it, I'm still working through my collection re-tagging and renaming a lot of them manually, not a small task with about 12'000 songs

I'll need to wait until I'm connected to the net again then(tomorrow apparently, I won't hold my breath though).
I have about the same amount of music as you and about 1/3 of it not tagged at all. The last time I tried to tag it I installed a program called MediaMonkey, it did do its job but not long after I got a virus and lost ALL my music on my HD (I shed a tear that day) so I'm not wanting to go down that route again.

Morley??
yes obviously it's going to be much harder to re-tag your MP3's in West Yorkshire..... WTF!!!!
My heart goes out to you for losing your mp3 collection, I'd be devastated if I lost mine, Though mine is backed up on my fathers computer, one day he may realise that his hard drive is an awful lot fuller than it should be :)

I was devestated, thankfully I had backed up mine on my Dad's PC too (how strange we both did that LOL) and he hadn't deleted anything he considered to be 'rubbish' music, but I still had around 2000 songs, whether it be albums or single songs, that I had downloaded in that time not backed up. I still haven't got everything back but I'm nearly there.
