school has a sponsored 'fancy dress' day this friday (only given a week to work out a costume). Little girl (6 yrs old) wants to go as 'Jessie' from Toystory. She has pair jeans, cowgirl style shirt and boots, but how can we make a pair of chaps and get a red cowgirl hat. no money so can't spend a fortune on buying things new, want to adapt something or make it .. how can it be done, any ideas ??

for the chaps could you cut up an old piece of fabric e.g. a white sheet and use fabric pens (or a Sharpie marker) to draw cow prints on?
awhhh... good luck! when my daughter was about 8 she went to a fancy dress party as Jessie and looked fab, but we borrowed the outfit from stupid-rich friends who had every bloody Disney outfit going!

sorry, that wasn't very helpful :o/

For the hat, I would look at the chrity shops nearby, if it's not red, then you could paint it with some poster paint or similar, or lots of bargain shops have them for £1 or £2, The chaps you can make from some white fabric, and then draw on some cowprint yourself, it needn't be perfect, as long as it's near enough..................Good luck, I'm sure you'll manage it very well!
