I'm planning to buy CDs (yes, I still use those) of several of the G & S operettas. I haven't had any for some time - since the vinyl ones expired, actually! - and wonder if anyone could recommend some good recordings. Not compilations, but the full versions, starting probably with Iolanthe, HMS Pinafore, Pirates of Penzance and Mikado. I looked on Amazon, but there's quite a choice and some seem to be re-mastered old recordings. Is the quality on these OK?

(Until the copyright expired on G&S works, D'Oyly Carte was the only company which was permitted to record G & S, since they held the licensing rights ).
They're not cheap but, if you're seeking the very best, they might be worth considering:
