My partners niece went there a couple of weeks ago. She said that the cheapest drink was £18-00! Is this true?

When I was living in Greater London I always thought I'd get around to going there one day. I think the potential costs of entry and drinks didn't encourage me to get around to it. I now see entry is £30 to £40 which may have been acceptable for a one off. But I also see that one needs to book at the website or booking office; I'd have just turned up !
I did get to Smollensky's once for live jazz as I ate. No big name that night, fairly empty, but pleasant. But I look on the Net now and it seems to have turned more into a steak/BBQ place ?! Not like the day when they advertised on Jazz FM, when that station used to broadcast.
