The Mrs went to buy some tickets for a gig. She got them from the venue but still got changed a £1-00 booking fee.
I don't mind getting charged if I've bought them from an agent, but I think it's a rip off if they're from the venue!

There's no reason for it, AOG, except that the artist's agent will ask for, say, 95% of the ticket price.

If Simon Cowell brings his talentless puppets to the O2, he wants to keep most of the money.

So if a venue incorporated a £1 booking fee into the ticket price, they would probably have to give 95p of it to the artist's agent.

I remember a report from a few years back, accusing ticketmaster of touting its own tickets - apparently they also own "get me in" and tickets sold there obviously attract higher prices and QED bigger profits for TM. so naturally for popular gigs they sell via get me in. allegedly.

JJ. The venue gets its money even if they only half fill it. It's my understanding that the promoter pays the act. He/she takes a hit or makes profit on the concert.
