Sheffield to Manchester

Anyone experienced in travelling by car from Sheffield to Manchester on the A57? How bad is the traffic generally if leaving sheffield at 4.30pm approx? Ideas of average journey time would be helpful. Not travelling into City Centre, only as far as Manchester Apollo. Thanks

This may be a little late - sorry if it is.

You'll be off on the Glossop road, over snake pass, down into Glossop and turning left up onto the motorway bit and straight onto the Appollo - Its not too bad going that way I think there are long term r/w on the A57 Snake Pass but you should be fine. Prob take about an hour at that time. be careful where you leave your car nr Apollo as clampers and little kids who want to look after it for a fiver are rife !
