I am hoping to take my parents to Barcelona for a few nights in September. They are elderly but active and never go anywhere 'self catering' which I always do. I was trying to encourage them to try it and they came up with the idea that perhaps I should go with them. I am kinda backing down a bit and now thinking well perhaps a happy compromise would be bed and breakfast somewhere, sets them up for the day but they can experience the local culture at night time . Can anyone recommend this in Barcelona - nothing too expensive but perhaps around 3 star. many thanks
I stayed here last year http://www.hotel-monegal.com/ It's very central, but only continental breakfast is served (croissants etc). As it's so central it's very handy for all the eating places on and just off La Ramblas.
I've frequently stayed in self catering accommodation but apart from putting together a light breakfast I've never self catered.
The main point of a holiday to me is not to have to do any catering, cooking, washing up, washing or anything similar. Maybe your parents are the same. Perhaps if they understand they won't have to self-cater it would help?
thanks all - yes dzug other than perhaps putting together some breakfast myself I would not 'self cater' as such - want them to experience eating out more when abroad and think they understand that is what I mean.
for info although nothing booked yet I have found this place that looks ideal:
