Does anyone know if there is a big risk playing music from a laptop during a private party, but in a public place?(a rented room upstairs in a local pub)

I was just wondering with regards to all the MP3 licensing issues doing the rounds.
Are there people out and about checking these things in small town at local pubs?

If this is a one-off, I really wouldn;t worry about it.

The liscensing people are after the big-style copiers who are making a cereer out of bootlegging and selling tracks/.

Copying for private use is accepted, and largely ignored, so if you are not planning to expand your DJ'ing to 20,000 ravers every weekend, you should be safe enough.

Brilliant! Thanks!
I DJ and there are no inspectors about.

If by a miracle one approaches you just say "they are all legal downloads are not ripped from CD"

Just as a matter of interest what are you plugging yr laptop into?
