A day trip to Oxford

My friend and I are meeting up for the first time in Oxford. Where are the best places to visit (we are both photography enthusiasts) & suggestions of a few good places to eat there (we wont have transport as we are both catching trains from opposite directions).

We will only be there for a day (arrival at about 9.30am & leaving about 5.30pm) but want to fit as much as possible into our time, plus having a nice lunch, preferably near the water!

Many thanks : )

I know you are looking for personal suggestions, but a search in Google for phrases like "Visiting Oxford" or "Oxford Tourist" will find all sorts of sites.

Here is a city centre map (will take a time to load)

The link above to the map did not work, but you can find it on this site near the top

There are a list of Oxford sights here (which may be worth photographing)

IMHO the best dining pub on the river is this one.

However it isn't in Oxford centre - but on the river to the north of the centre, the other end of Port Meadow. It's about a 2 mile drive out down the Walton Road towards Wolvercote.
Had (another) superb lunch there about 3 months ago.

I went for the first time recently and took an open top bus city tour which was relatively inexpensive - covered all the highlights in one day, flexible in that you can hop off and catch the next bus as you please. I would recommend it.
