Wonder if anyone knows?

Song played alot by John Peel in the late 80s. It was a song that repeatedly used David Coleman phrases such as 'remarkable' and 'extraordinary'. I dont think they were samples, more like the singer 'taking off' David Coleman.

Was it the singer himself or just someone doing an impression?

If the latter then a thought that came to mind was that Chris Barrie did the Coleman voice for Spitting Image, and from Wikipedia I see that he did some contributions for Art Of Noise and Frankie Goes To Hollywood (not just 2 Tribes).

it was the singer himself. I dont think it was meant as a 'novelty' record. It was just done in David Coleman style.

It was round about the time 'A move to Memphis' by The Colorblind James Experience was getting played by John Peel. There was alot of quirky 'indie' releases back then.
