did anyone see a young American singer called Jackie Evancho

she was featured recently on BGT i think. She is the 13 year old who either won, or was on another talent show possibly american idol, If anyone did see her, were you impressed or not quite sure if its her singing, because i can't believe a 13 year old and shes been singing for a while, is for real or whether shes just very good at lip synching. Because i couldn't marry up the soprano voice that comes out of this little girl. Forget charlotte church, this is something quite different.

Apparently when she first appeared on the US version,people claimed she was lip syncing.....so she proved them wrong by singing acapella on live tv.
She came second place.

indeed, but when i watched this snippet, she sung Nessun Dorma, i would have sworn blind she wasn't singing live, usually you can tell. If it really is her singing she has the voice of a 30 year old.

I saw it. I believe it is her own voice. I must admit though it seemed strange to compare the speaking voice with her singing voice.

She was certainly not singing live on Saturday. I'm not saying that's not her voice - but she had no idea how to lipsynch convincingly.

quizmonkey totally agree, but when you hear her speak that's what i find difficult to adjust to. The singing and speaking voice just don't marry up. If its her then she has
a remarkable voice, but what i really didn't like is she looked too made up and too knowing for a 13 year old, like a mini Kathryn Jenkins, and i dislike her intensely.

I saw her and was quite moved. Nice to see proper talent on show for once, as opposed to a dancing grandad or other such rubbish.
Don't really understand your last post about her being too 'knowing', whatever that means. Also, she is 11 not 13.
She has one of the most amazing voices I have ever heard and for her age she has no equal.

on any number of websites i looked up it gave her age as 13, but wiki says 11, as you have pointed out. If you don't know what i mean about knowing, its like those ghastly beauty pageants in USA, where little girls wear grown up makeup, clothes, and project themselves in a way that smacks of Lolita, If she's 11, then she certainly didn't look it.

Like Philtaz, I thought she looked 11. A very sweet little 11 year old girl not made up at all, in a pretty dress and flat shoes. And when she spoke she sounded 11 and giggled like an 11 year old. A very natural young lady.

I think it is an enormous change that SC will most likely ruin her for commercial gain.

She could do a Katherine Jenkins and get her voice fully trained at somewhere like the Jullliard or the RCMand then tackle both opera/serious music and lighter stuff, the latter for the money.

Unfortunately I suspect SC will want to continue to make his millions on this irl - poor thing but if he does the decent thing, then all credit to him as she could really be worth something down the line and with maturity of the voice.
