Ok - forgive me if this is a silly question ( my brain is frazzled at this time of morning , from searching for insurance cover )
A question on the house insurance form states -
'' To the best of your knowledge has your property flooded in the last 10 years? ''
Then the guide states -
'' A flood is when your property has been damaged by a surge of water from an external source such as heavy rainfall or a river bursting its banks.''
In my property plaster is coming off / has come off parts of some of the walls - due to damp , I beleive .
The damp is from water that is/has been getting underneath the house
( not inside the house ) over a period of time, including when it rains .
Should I therefore answer ' yes' or ' no' to the question on the form ?
The cause of the water coming under your home may well be a material fact and you shoud disclose it - you will then not have a problem with any claim that may arise in the future. The insurers may not be too keen oninsurung you if your home is built over a spring !
