Help with finding an old record

I am helping a friend to find a record that his mother sang on, it was roughly in the 1940s or early 1950s, she sang with a band, unfortunatly he can not remember which one, her name was winifred alderton, thanks

Hi, I know you've asked this before but I noticed that last time you suggested the name might also be June Alderton. Have you since established it was defintely Winifred?
Does he/she know anything more about the band (any other members) or any of the songs?

Hi, in my haste to type the question i did indeed miss out the june bit, her full name is Winifred June Alderton, all my friend says he can remeber is that it was a "big band" of the time, as far as he knows she only sang with them once and it was on a 78, hope that helps and many thanks for your time. If you do reply i probably won't answer until monday (trouble with the net at home)
