5 weeks ago my daughter came home from school a little later than her expected time. I asked why she was late..just quering. She entered into an argument with me and became quite angry and left; she went to stay at her friends house and her mother..Alot has happened inbetween ie calls, contact with the friends mother, but my daughter says she needs space and will not answer me when I ask when she will come back home. My daughter is my absolute priority in life and I do everything in my power for her well being and happiness without ANY help whatsoever from her father..I am so confused and lost as I don't understand why she has done this, I thought we were fine. She did this a few days after her school formal;; I cry myself to sleep every night and feel like she just hates me. I dont know where I went wrong. Maybe I did too much for her! I just want her to come home but she avoids my question and then ignores my text and calls..I just don't know what to do anymore.

Nothing you can do until she gets over her tantrum, and it is a tantrum.

What does her friends parents (who i assume shes still living with) have to say?
Yep....she'll get over it.

My son did it to me. Not a problem....I let him search for that green grass.

He came home and appreciated us more...
Give her the space she wants.

You may have done nothing wrong, every child needs to break away from their parents at some point, then they come back on their terms.

Mind you 16 is quite young and she proably does not know what she wants.

I have to say the other mother should not make it so "easy" for your daughter to stay there if it is upsetting you so much, and the mother should set a time limit of say 2 weeks before teling her she has to come back to live with you.

Should I just accept she has left and let her do her own thing..I feel quite angry at myself as the mother she is staying with wants $100 a week and my daughter has made applications to get rent assistance but has asked me to help her.. So I paid this money as my daughter told me she would come home once this was paid..I told her this time she will need to repay me this money..I just want her home. Period,
Sometimes its not a bad thing, they know everything at 16!!

If only!
It's called being a teenager.

VHG I thought exactly the same thing about this mother which is why I was quite upset that she did make it easy.. instead she charged my daughter $100 a week instead of telling her to go home and sort things out..
Who is paying $100 a week?
Are you perhaps American?

Not that it makes a huge difference but this web site is based in the UK and most contributors (but not all) live in the UK.

This may make a difference regarding the legal situation.
For £100 a week she can come stay with me.

///I just want her home. Period,///

She knows this and will milk that for all its worth. Sometimes a bit of tough love goes a long way. Soon enough she'll see where her bread is buttered.

No VHG from Australia..
I had almost 5 months of worrying, concern, rage, love, compassion when my 17 year old son flounced.

He is now back home and seems very happy to be so.

However, him flouncing has caused a rift between me and my husband's family. That's fine with me. They are perfect parents anyway.

Who is paying this money to the friend's mother? If it is, then stop.
this mother sounds a bit toxic to me she shouldnt be encouraging your daughter to stay away .Sit tight keep talking she'll be back.
