My BF has just bought himself a Honda Prelude, and we really need to know how to turn off the CONSTANT BEEPING that greets us every time we open the door. It's insanely annoying! Is there a way of deactivating this without affecting anything else?

Have you read the manual, most of these types of things are trying to tell you something.

no, he bought it second hand, and there is no manual.

He's not left the lights on by any chance has he?

Just a thought.

Question Author

no, it beeps when we open the door, it beeps when we unbuckle a seatbelt, it beeps when we breathe too loudly... turning the key seems to stop it, but we parked outside the house the other night, he turned off the engine, and we spent the next 10 mins hunting round the car clearing out all the junk. As this was done with the door open for the light, the damned car beeped the whole time. Please tell me that the only solution is for the owner's girlfriend to take to it with a crowbar!

If it's one of the newer preludes (post '89) it's probably a safety feature built in to get you to check your're buckled up and the handbrake is not still on when you move away.
