cycling through puddles how to keep feet dry

Apart from waterproof socks is there a good way of keeping my feet dry when I ride along the canal towpath which has lots of full width puddles.

Boots? they arent all huge great things, some are small and lightweight these days, no probs riding a bike in them.

Yes, you can tell the cool kids by the manky stripe they sport from butt cheeks to shoulders. :)

My husband has overshoes, made from waterproof fabric which he fixes on over his trainers, problem solved.

Of course, there is the occasional problem of rocks and bumps under the water, which take you out.

Several times I've done the "Wooooooooooo ..." heading into the puddle, only to hit something in the water and come off my bike.

I think overshoes are what I want. I have mudguards, ride slowly!! I did think of plastic bags but I'd feel such a prat riding into work with them on. Thanks for the answers everyone.
