During the Christmas break , my wife had to work (unplanned) and I visited my folks in Derbyshire (between Christmas and New year)
On return I stopped at the services on the M1/A43 junction for something to eat and a coffee.

Event 1 - McDonald's had a huge queue and so did Costa Coffee. So went into Smiths for a fizzy drink and couple of mars bars.

Event 2 - While standing about eating the chocolate bars , I noticed the maximum payout of the slot machines is £500 ! So went into area to see how much it was a play these days. Not played slot machines for years and years (pubs when it was 20p a go) ...other than the 2p a go ones in the arcades by the sea.

Event 3 - Noticed that it was £2 a go!!!! and on other machines £1 a go. Noticed one had 50p credit in it ????? Errrrr How ???
So chucked 50p in and won nowt. Put another £1 in ...final go (all change I had in pocket).

Three bars came in out of the 5 reels and above payline ....but then all these lines started to flash(above win line , zigzag bars etc) and amounts of money being added to the bank.

Anyway no buttons were flashing (Collect button) so figured Bank was a jackpot accumulation. Was about to walk away and I decided to hit the Collect button anyway and it started to payout ...
chink ...chink ...chink ...chink ...chink ...
Started to stuff pockets with £1 coins ...it would not stop.

When I got home and counted the money (xfrered into a bag in car) I had won £256 !

Result

So if these events had not come together , I would have never played the machine and won £256 :-)

Have you ever had random events come together into a positive result ?

Many years ago (1994) went to Corfu on holiday.
Got to know the couple in apartment next to us and had a few drinks with them.
They were from Sheffield and he was a shop fitter and said he made it into London a couple of times a year for work.
Anyway a month on return from holiday we took a trip into London (90 mile drive) and decided to eat in China town. Was going from place to place deciding where to eat and looked around and reading the menu next to me was the chap from Corfu !!!! He said "Hello how are you ..."

Expect to win on the bonds every month (Me and wife have the maximum) , however the largest unit has been multiples of £25/£50/£100.
Still hope for a knock on the door on the 1st of month from Ernie on day :-)

Interesting name you have there Mr Hooker....
The nearest I can get to it is that I was sitting in my armchair watching telly, as I had done many times for many years. I heard a noise outside (some shouting and arguing) so I got up to have a nose out the window. Just a few seconds after getting up the bracket holding the stereo speaker (quite hefty in weight) which was right above my head came away from the wall and came crashing down. Had I been sitting there, as I would have been but for being nosy, it would have done me a lot of damage or worse.
