I have a midi file on the computer called 'sixiang' which has been with me for some time. It has an utterly beautiful tune, but I would like to know what it is really called (that I might listen to it played without the aid of binary code). 'Sixiang' must be pertaining to the 8-letter rule of early computing. What is it? It can easily be found (and listened to) by typing 'sixiang.mid' or 'sixiang' into Google.

Firstly, the MIDI file I found was 1:30 long and is a mid-tempo piece with a piano accompaniment.

Upon hearing the name I immediately thought it was the Chinese word for 'think/ thought' (actually two characters and pronounced 'ser-shiang' - 思想). There was an old Amiga puzzle game in the late 1980s called Sixiang and I believe you've stumbled upon the theme tune. It also sounds quite infectious like the Tetris tune. If so, a full orchestral/ band version is unlikely to exist of this music.

There is also a Taiwanese Folk Song called Sixiang Qu (思想起) which I've heard and sounds different from the MIDI file.

heh, typing sixiang.mid into google finds this post :)
