REM - Everybody Hurts: Most Depressing Song of All Time?

the headline says "depressing", but the report suggests they really meant "sad", as in most likely to move the listener to tears.

the complete survey list is shown in the article - are they truly the songs that most move you to tears? or are they just depressing?

Depressing, or moving depends on the mood you are in (or want to be in)

There's quite a few decent one's in that list, REM I agree with, and Nothing compares to you, I also agree with B00 sugestion, Hurt... but I'm surprised that Eric Clapton, Tears in Heaven isn't in the list.

Hmmm, well the two I said are my top slit my wrists type of songs. Sad as in wanna make me cry?? Hmmm, possibly Emma by Hot Chocolate or Jimmie Rodgers A Little Dog Cried, wept buckets when I first heard that.

Listening to any REM would move me to tears, particularly that song, although shiney happy people would come a close effing second! Miserable bunch of Lady Vegtables...

agree with tears in heaven.
I hate everybody hurts. Been played at alot of my mates funerals that killed themselves and each time I have sat there and thought 'they really wouldnt have chosen this'
