The question really has to be seen in context.

In country music, Garth Brooks is a massive star, and possibly the name a lot of non-country music fans would know, but in that context he is less famous than Dolly Parton.

The Beatles have to be seen not just in terms of their musical contribution, but theit cultural impact on the world and the seismic shift that their music and style ushered in. That cannot be equalled by any musician, so in real terms of fame, if there is such a thing, then no, Garth is not more famous.

Well MarkRae, again, what I mean by " famous" is popularity. Simple as that. He is very talented and I mean if he is famous in his genre of music as the beetles were in there genre.
