Dubbed Childrens Programme - possibly Banana Splits

Can anyone remember a dubbed childrens pogramme - possibly from Spain and possibly part of Banana Splits.
The theme tune possibly had 'its better to have fought and lost' as part of the lyrics

I think it was called The Flashing Blade.

There was also Robinson Crusoe, Bell & Sabastian, Hiedi, White Horses and a French Air Force series that I cannot remember the made of at the moment but found it on Wikopedia recently.

There was also The Snow Queen and The Singing Ringing Tree though they were abit spooky
Never watch Belle and Sebastain or White Horses though my friends did

Along with The Singing Ringing Tree was The Tinderbox which most people seem to forget - remember the 3 giant dogs?

I loved the Singing Ringing Tree but had not a clue what it was about.

I remember The Flashing Blade well. It used to be put on every Summer Holiday and features what felt like 368 episodes.

Singing Ringing Tree freaked me out. Until I saw clips of it recently I could have sworn it was in black and white.

We will remember it in black and white because that was how we experienced all television, in my case until about 1972.

The BBC did show a black and white version of The Singing Ringing Tree as they bought it in the days when they only transmitted in black and white.
The original was a German children's film made in colour in the late 1950s. The BBC bought a black and white copy and chopped it up into three episodes.

The Flashing Blade was made in colour for French TV. The BBC lost their dubbed last episode, so the repeats only lasted 12 episodes (the last episode dealt with the characters returning home, so didn't add too much to the story).

Both series are available on DVD from Network DVD, as well as The Tinderbox and Belle and Sabastian...

Used to love Thibaud and White Horses. although I remember even as a child being frustrated that White Horses never seemed to come to an end. Now working in a French bank with a colleague called....Thibaud (how freaky is that!).Not my type tho' LOL

I have the Tales From Europe DVD which has good quality remastered versions of both The Singing Ringing Tree and The Tinderbox.
