I think I might have only mentioned it once or twice but I'm finally moving into my own house. Wooohooo!! Problem is there is someone else living in it until May. Booooooo!!!!!!!
I'm sooooo impatient! I've done loads of furniture shopping and list making and last night I sat on the sofa with the Tesco catalogue like kids do with the Argos one at xmas. I've spent most of the afternoon hunting for nice cushions on the internet because I simply can not wait but it feels like today is taking forever to end, never mind the start of May!
I'm so flipping excited!!!!
I just wanted to vent my impatience and there is nobody other than the carpet beatles in the office to share with.
Evian, look at it this way. The 2 weeks of work you have to do before you get the 2 weeks of annual leave drag in. Then the 2 weeks of holiday fly in.
No consolation I know, but don't dive into buying something which you might go off before then. I am pleased for you. A new home is always something to get excited about !
Thanks Alba, I know when it eventually arrives it will feel like it's gone quick. I just have no patience at all.
I've been pretty careful with buying stuff. The only big stuff I've bought is a new bed (so I can leave mine as a spare at Dads), a sofa and a couple of tub chairs, plus all the kitchen bits. I'm trying not to buy anything else now until I actually move in.
Don't forget a tin opener or two. Tea towels and scourers, a washing up bowl and washing liquid.
About 8 years ago we were 'between' houses, loads of stuff in storage but thought we'd decorate before we got the stuff out of storage. Spent a blooming fortune on the silly things.
I stood in our kitchen a while ago, opened every cupboard and drawer and wrote down a list of everything I needed, including all the things you mentioned. Then got a lot of it from a huge outlet shop near my sisters in Cornwall and I'm picking other bits up as I go along if I see them on special offer. Had a bit of a trolly dash in Ikea the other day too, that was fun :)
So pleased for you -- know how you feel. When I had to wait to move I spent every night working out in my head what I would do with each room.I made a plan for each room on scraps of paper -- the time just whizzed away .Did I do it all after moving -- well some and some really, depending on available cash. But the planning did help in some ways otherwise I would have forgotten loads of things. So the very best of luck when you move.
Thank you both, looks like may is an exciting month for lots of people.
That's what I've been doing Brenda. Today I printed off a picture of my sofa then printed pictures of cushions to see what looked good. Very sad! Ha ha. Just can't wait to get in and start putting it all together.
I'm going au naturel. Well, the sofa is brown and the arm chairs are cream so I could stick in a contrasting colour. I found the Cargo website has a Moodboard so you can add lots of bits and compare how it all goes together. I can see it taking up lots of my time :)
