council swimming pools

on looking at opening times of my local swimming pools i noticed on all of them allocated "women only" times.there are non of these such for men.
i can understand it to a degree in today's PC nature and with no i have no interest/bothered in men only.
i read on the job centre plus website about a job which was and could only be for women(modeling womens clothes).
at the end of the advert it said along the lines that the job was exempt from some discrimination law set up in 2010
on the websites for the swimming there is no such statement why?

Ridiculous and sexist in my opinion, but may be due to a Muslim population.

That alone is a ridiculous thing to say - there have been women only classes as far back as when I was a kid which is a long time - every part of the country I have lived in there have been women only classes and lot where there have been no muslims!!!

simple answer is because the law quoted in the job advert is employment law and not relevant to swimming sessions...Its called a genuine occupational requirement and means that for certain jobs, one gender (not sexual orientation) would be totally inappropriate and therefore they are excused for this job from complying with gender equality law.
There may not be much call for men only swimming sessions, but there may be indignation at being barred as if they were 2nd class citizens from using the pool when the 1st class citizens get exclusive use. But such is the way society have always treated males in my experience, you must be used to it by now.
