Following the earlier post abnout the Olympic closing ceremony I would like to see people's ideas about an ultimate one day festival.

You can pick any six bands, dead or alive, to play this one day extravaganza, and they don't have to fit together in any way. If you fancy a folk artist on after a death metal band, and then a rap artiste, that is entirely up to you. There are no restrictions whatsoever.

However, if anyone tries to include Jedward I will withdraw your entertainment licence and the festival will be off, leaving you to expain the cancellation to thousands of disgruntled punters.

I might not like all of those bands ummm, but I would pay to go that festival.
Queen
Stones
Elbow
Kinks
Bowie
Paulo Lutini

With The Hollies and Coldplay in reserve

(I will not say Radiohead, who I love because I will get abuse)
I want to pick more :-)
I would go to ummmm's Festival - there is noone there I wouldn't love to see (especially Eels)
I like Radiohead.
I want to pick more too ummmm

I just thought of 'The Flaming Lips' and Arthur Lee and Love

I was going to go for a three day Reading type festival but the fact you have to condense it makes it all the harder and should drive quality control up. I could pick so many.

Lottie, I'd willingly go to see an early Radiohead, and have done many times.
The Eels were at Glastonbury 2011. They were brilliant.
I thought you might like Radiohead ummmm - great taste in music!!
Duncer, I quite like the later Radiohead too, but agree that the early stuff was more festival like!!! I have seen them too at Shepherds Bush!!
I agree with Elbow and the Kinks but would add David Bowie, Rod Stewart, Maroon 5 and Bernie Flint, hahahahaha
Pips, I had Bowie on my list!! ;o)
Assuming you mean at the peak of their powers ...

Jefferson Airplane
Neil Young and Crazy Horse
Ian Dury and the Blockheads
The Clash
Led Zeppelin
Cream
Oh yes, missed that!!!

I'm beginning to wish I hadn't posted this as I am struggling to whittle my choices down.

sunny-dave, where can I get tickets? Neil Young is one of the greatest live acts I have ever seen.
Indeed so Duncer - seen him several times - including with CSN at the Albert Hall ...
I am liking everybody's choices so far.

No mention of Elton, Cliff - hooray

Would also like 'The Animals'
I love Neil Young.

I would also add The Jam and Greenday.
