iTunes & iPod
6 Answers
Dear All
My PC constantly warned me of 'low memory' &, to combat this, I bought an external hard drive which I moved a number of files to .... problem solved .... or so I thought !!!
When moving a number of my files to the external hard drive, I moved my iTunes library content also .... problem is, when I fire up iTunes, it goes looking for the content of my iPod at the previous location, prior to my moving the files, music, etc &, when it gets there, it finds nothing so my library on my iTunes looks blank & when I plug in my iPod, iTunes tells me that I can't sync the iPod as it is 'sunk' elsewhere !!!
Can anyone tell me how I can 're-direct' iTunes to the 'new location' where my files are now stored, i.e. the new external hard drive
Thanks folks.

Hi Stevie, I am writing this from memory but if you open Edit-> Preferences- > Advanced-> Change the location of you iTunes library on your PC should be visible. Change this to point at your library on your external drive and save. Your external drive must always be switched on before your PC so it can find the pathway... hope this helps

I had exactly the same problem with iTunes when trying to "buck" the system.
I found that files for loading onto iTunes were easier to find from my desk top than from "My Music"
Great idea providing the files are left in the position where iTunes found them.
But not such a good idea to move them back into "My Music" as second time around iTunes can't find them.
Are you able to copy files to iTunes from your external hard drive ?
