What the hell are we playing at in Afghanistan?

Here we have what is deemed a 'SECURE' military base set in the middle of a desert, and yet a motley crew of tribesmen armed only with rocket-propelled grenades and assault rifles can get close enough to carry out a substantial attack which killed two US Marines and caused major damage to buildings, an aircraft hangar and several military jets.

We tell the World that our Prince Harry is stationed in Camp Bastion, and now we tell them that the Prince was not in this part of the camp, so perhaps they should try somewhere else next time eh?

There was also an unrelated killing of a Guardsman yesterday caused by his vehicle being blown up by an improvised explosive device.

It's amazing that we posses the ultimate in 21st century technology and yet it would appear we have not yet come up with anything to prevent these regular deaths and mutilations from these devises.

So Harry is doing a sterling job doing what he always wanted to do. No worry that innocent servicemen are being killed because of his prescence.

I believe the Taliban used suicide bombers to blow a hole in the camp's defences so that other terrorists could easily enter the compound. All Army camps have troops doing guard watch so maybe they were asleep at the time.

If I were in charge of patrols I would make sure a captured Taliban would be tied up and be part of the crew of the vehicle.

You could volunteer your services and fly out there to advise the Brit forces...I am sure you will be received with welcome arms.

the taliban have left it a little late to capture harry ,they should have tried a few weeks ago ,then they could have found him with his trousers down.

I think you'll find pdq that servicemen from many nations are being killed every day,not just when Harry is there.
They just aren't reported anymore.

Afghanistan is, and always will be, a waste of time and lives.
