I reckon it's a bit like the Mark Lannegan CD Bubblegum - he has some good ideas for tracks, but somehow you get the feeling that the ideas haven't been carried through fully to the tracks they could have become. Maybe with the departure of Nick, Josh felt that a slight change in direction was what's needed.
And what's with their UK tour being a single date in London? I was looking forward to seeing them live.
With the departure of Nick the bass player they're less screamy mad (ie no Six Shooter style song this time!).
More guesting on this album, its getting like the Desert Sessions in terms of how many extra people appear on it!
Cool album though, it's easier to listen to than Songs For The Deaf but probably due to Nick Olivieri leaving before "Lullabies..." was recorded, Songs For The Deaf had harder, rockier songs.
Thanks for the replies. Hoping to get it before the end of the month. Personally, i feel if it's only half as good as Songs for the Deaf it'll still be well worth it ! Quality band !
soozmac, I know what you mean about the UK Tour. Although i'm not sure 1 gig constitutes a Tour ! I missed them last time around so i was lookin forward to catchin them on the tour for this album. Oh well, maybe they'll come back to do more later in the year.
