mod day eqiv of a mixed tape?
11 Answers
Bit of a technophobe, but will try to explain what I want! I have lots of music tracks on various cd's that I would like to put together to listen to ON MY LAPTOP ONLY . Is there a way of loading in chosen cd and transfering fave track to a library or something, so that I can then play that 'library' of tracks back as a 'mixed tape' while I do my other work... don't have any mp3's/ipods etc...literally want to store fave tracks from existing cd's....am I making sense?

If you are using Windows Media Player you can "rip" the music off the CD and save it as an mp3 on your laptop.
Put the CD in the laptop. It will probably ask you what you want to use to play the CD. Close this window.

Open Windows Media Player and one of the options is rip the CD.
Before you rip the CD change the settings so it defaults to mp3 files, and set the quality as 192kbps. You can set the quality higher if you like but the files will be bigger and you probably wont notice much sound improvement.
Also set "copy protect music" OFF so you can play it on another computer if you ever get one.
All the files will be ripped one folder per CD, probably in your "music" folder.
Once you have all the CDs ripped then you can create a new folder and copy (or drag) the mp3 songs you want to be part of your playlist into that one folder.
If you then open that folder in Windows, so you are viewing all the mp3 files, you can just click on "play all" at the top of the window to play all the songs.
btw Windows Media player can be used to view all your CDs on your computer and if it recognizes the CD it will will download the sleeve of the CD and also the track names, rather than naming them track1, track2 etc.
