Just by luck i found a TV Sitcom called "Early Doors" which I found wonderfully funny. It stars among others Craig Cash who starred in "The Royale Family" and plays a similar type character. Why is this so little heard of, as it is really funny . Has anybody else seen this?.

I watched this when it was on - there were two or three series. It was very, very funny. Watch out for James MacAvoy!
This was first shown in 2003-2004.

Two series.
I always used to watch this. I think there were just 3 series. It was written by Craig Cash and the guy who plays his friend (the one who lives on Fray Bentos tinned pies when his wife leaves him!),
You will recognise many northern actors and actresses in it, plus James MacAvoy as the boyfriend.

It was brilliant, and wish they did more, but I think they all became more famous.
>>>I think there were just 3 series

Every reference site on the internet seems to indicate there were only 2 series.

A third may have been planned but never made.
I'm not sure it's as little heard of as you seem to imagine. It always seems to be being repeated on DAVE...
bloody ell....lol.
wait to you see the last episode gollob,it'll bring a tear to you eye......a fantastic comedy well written and acted.
Gordon Banks, Nobby Stiles...
Wasn't it writtten for Caroline Aherne but had to be re-written when she was taken ill
I used to love this. Craig Cash is a very talented man.
I just love the two coppers in it...genius!
We watch this sometimes, it's very funny. I have no idea why we never watched it first time round, I don't even recall it being on.
A briliant sitcom. Each person in it plays such a good part. Loved the miserable old bloke.

Many thanks for your replies. I thought the characters were terrific like the banter between the two coppers and Ken's mothers and the home help. You can see lots of simple chat in the pub like that was used in the "Royale Family" . There were 2 series and 12 episodes which I have now purchased on a dvd
Favourite episode is when the coppers confiscated a bag of grass, then smoked it in the back room. Superb performances.
Early Doors was one of my favourite sitcoms. It's a proper tearjerker at the end of it all.
My favourite episode was the pub quiz...
Nipper
Or do I mean Pickles. I think I mean Pickles
Pickles. Nipper was HMV...
Plenty of them on Youtube
