Roger whittaker had a hit with des oconnor, and with durham town in 69 but maybe not top ten

It can't be Roger Whittaker, Durham Town wasn't top 10, I've been through all the top tenners of 69, the nearest is Bowie but he had a top 10 with Jump They Say in 93 after Absolute Beginners in 86 so am interested in what the answer is.

i looked at marvin gaye a few days a ago and i got the impression that grapevine had entered the top ten in 1968
cap greatfully doffed to 4 candles for puttng me on the right path

Further delving suggests that the '68 release of 'Grapevine' was over the pond, but UK release was Feb '69.

Odd coincidence here. Def Leopard (spelling) had a number 15 with "Rocket" and HH had a hit with "Rockit"
