How sad. I remember him on all the big shows in the 70's. Morcambe and Wise and the The Two Ronnies had him on a lot.

He was a stalwart of Pebble Mill Studios. Looked as though he had availed himself of the hospitality bar first. Always associate him with Midnight in Moscow.

My mum loved his records and i was dragged along to a few of his cabaret performances in the seventies

his LPs always played at Christmas parties

He lived near Uxbridge and frequented a pub near where I used to work

I used to try and copy his style when I was a young trumpeter. I think he was better than a lot of people gave him credit for because he always played in a 'commercial' style on his records (after all he was earning his living) but I heard him live several times and he was good.

He was a favourite of my Dad's.

Oooh I loved him, Midnight in Moscow and all that! He made jazz popular with the youngsters.
