Help please! I`m looking for a tune title which had several air plays on Radio 1 and Luxembourg around 1970. I have a very poor recording of it, but I think some of the lyrics are as follows:-
I think it starts - "I`m desperate to know, where did she go, has she been ??, please, has she been seen, you know it means so much to me".
(chorus) "I could have died when I heard she was going. Made up my mind all my life she would share". Next line unclear, then I think - "she`s on her own and she`s half way to where"
"Half way to where" sounds like the title, but there`s nothing like it on the net. Hope someone recognises it. Thanks.

Yeah I know the song you're after, I have it on a single. It is called 'Halfway To Where' and by a group called The Freshmen. The label is CBS and the year 1970.

My first thought was The Chilites with Have You Seen Her but the lyrics don't match at all.
Were some of the lyrics spoken rather than sung?
Was it male or female?
What sort of music was it- Motown, acoustic, MOR, rock, pop..?.
Thanks

All the lyrics were sung. The verses were sung by a male vocalist, the chorus by a full vocal group. The whole thing had a full orchestral backing.
Is it possible to upload an MP3 on to Answerbank? If so, how?
Yes, people have done it but i don't know how, sorry.
Can you upload it onto youtube?

P.S. It was typical early 70`s m.o.r./pop.

I`ll try and find out how. If not, I`ll try and upload to youtube. Watch this space - it may take a day or two.

Eureka! Thanks Northernpopquiz, that must be the one! I`d like to get a copy of this - any chance you could upload it on to youtube?
Thanks, anyway.
there is a group called 'the four freshmen.'
Hi 711! The Freshmen version is definitely the one you're after, I remember Tony Blackburn played it, Paul Burnett too. Don't think I can get a version onto youtube but I can put it on a CD for you from the single but you'll have to email me with your details or come to the National Pop Quiz championships just about to start and I'll sort you out with a copy.It would depend on where you're based of course but if you wanted to come you'd be welcome. Any others from that era you require just let me know, I've got pretty much everything released between 1960 and 1990 and if I haven't got it one of my contacts will have.

Thanks, Northernpopquiz, I`d like to take you up on your offer. Not sure where the pop quiz championships are being held, but chances are it will be too far for me to get to, as I live in the far south west. Where do I email you?
Hi 711, no problem sorting you out a copy of the track you require, if you go to northernpopquizzes.co.uk you'll be able to email me direct from there. We can then exchange some details and I'll record you the disc. Look forward to hearing from you, regards, Steve @ Northern Pop Quizzes
Hi 711, it's me again. I just tried to email using my website email address but it didn't work. You may have the same problem so here's my other one, you'll be able to get in touch with me no problem with this. Best regards, Steve.
