I watched the Kaiser Chiefs on THREE last night from T in the Park. I like them and thought the performance was great. However, the singer was obviously miming the words. Is miming live acceptable?

Not in my book, no. The true test of a good band is their ability to play live. If they can't, their talent has obviously been bigged up by the record companies. I can't see the Kaiser Chiefs being one of these sorts of bands though.... maybe he'd lost his voice.
i don't think he was miming, wasn't it just that the two other band members (or maybe just one) were doing backing vocals which made it seem as if he was out of sync with the song?
god no! That is the one thing that really really gets to me about so many acts. People pay good money to go and see them perform LIVE. If they are not even producing any real sound then they may as well not be there, they could just stick a CD on. I have found the front man of the Kaiser Cheifs to be a bit obnoxious (sp) and above his station to be honest.

i was at t in the park and watched the kaiser chiefs i thought they where fantastic and they didnt sound any different to the rest of the live bands, but who knows i had a few too many lagers.....

if it was found they where miming i would be disapointed though! but it was a FANTASTIC weekend!

I didn't see the Kaiser Chiefs last night but we're talking about a band that played their way up through crappy little venues by putting on a great live show. Ricky Wilson was a very sound guy when I met him and is nothing but humbled when anybody comes along to see the band. Miming ain't his style and believe me, does not happen at T in the Park.

Kasier Cheifs have many band members singing at once or in rounds or harmonies etc... possibly Ricky was singing out of sync as they were live and what you could hear was his band mates.

If he was miming, that's dispicable, but I think it would be out of character. They are one of my favourite bands I am a bit disgruntled at this news! Anyway, no, I don't believe miming live is acceptable (besides, if miming, surely it isn't live? Or am getting confused...).
