I logged into my paypal account yesterday and there was a notice saying that in the past year I have had £1690 or more paid into my paypal account, and that I have very nearly reached the annual limit of £1900. Its basically because paypal have an agreement with European something or other.....I cant exactly remember the name. Its basically to prevent money laundering. At the end it asks me to provide a few details as my account will be temporarily limited until I provide them......I've not seen what details they want from me yet as I haven't gone that far.
Anyway, I have never had this notice before so I wanted to see if it was legitimate before I did anything.
I have sold a lot of stuff but I didn't think it was near £2000. I don't sell things as a business either. I just sell things every so often. Some quite high value. Some not so high value.
I've sent an email to paypal regarding this but the response said I need to ring a certain number, which I might end up having to do.
Has anyone else had this notice on there paypal account before?
If it was message within your paypal account after you logged on correctly then it'll be fine.
If it was an email you received addressed to 'dear customer' without your name and containing a link that you clicked on then it'll be a phishing attempt.
My balance never stays above £5 without me withdrawing it. It feels like dead money to me, not gaining interest
These days the paltry interest is hardly worth the effort of moving the cash about. :-(
I'd agree wikth FF. If you are sure you were on the right site then the note is unlikey to be hacked in by bad guys. Paypal's business depends on them being secure. But you can alway contact Paypal directly and ask about it.
It is standard once your paypal account reaches that level of activity I got the same a few years ago . Once they have the details the account limit will be removed , there is no choice either give the detail of live with the annual limit of £1900 . It is only the same details you have to give for any other bank account.
i am only a private seller as well but the limit can easily be reached , suppose you wanted to sell your car on ebay for example.
