Who's is the artist

In last nights concluding episolde of the Hell in the Pacific series there was a a version of the old spiritual song "I am a poor warefaring stranger! sung by either a male or female singer. The piece was gently orchestrated but very haunting and I would date it 1950's-1960's - anybody know who the artist was? Thanks..

there is the possibility it was Andreas Scholl.
