Hi, my ipod is playing up and I want to transfer the music from it to a different ipod. The problem is the music files are on a laptop that is no longer in use. I have logged into ITunes on my new laptop, connected my old ipod and it shows the music on my ipod. It wont let me drag and drop so really my question is how, if at all, can I get the music onto a different ipod?? Thanks in advance.

If you bought the tunes from iTunes, you should be able to redownload them to the new ipod.

Have you tried googling hoe to transfer from ipod to ipod?
Have you authorised the new laptop in the itunes store? You should then be able to download all your purchases to it and then put then on the new ipod.
Do you still have access to your old laptop even though it is not it use?

You need to copy your library from your old machine. Depending on its size you can do that with a USB stick or an external hard disk.

There are programs that can extract music from your iPod, but in my experience, you would have to manually put all your songs into albums and order.

Thanks for your answers so far everyone. Most of the music was transferred from cds which I no longer have.

Gromit, can you recommend any programs that would extract the music?

I can't even switch the old laptop on it's completely dead. Thanks again
You could get a caddy that you could put the hard disk from the laptop in and connect it externally to any other computer.
