Further to to question about Voyager I have decided to ask this
'Where were you at the moment Apollo landed on the Moon?'
As I said, I was in Cambridge at a pub called The Mill by the river Cam, even the traffic stopped as the announcement came through.

I was 18 and had left school the year before.
Type Your Answer Here...we were in the communal TV room on a caravan park near both as we were on holiday , the room was packed with holidaymakers, standing room only, made it all the more memorable, if that was possible. incredible thing to witnes
Bouth I meant,
It obviously pleased both my parents no end, I was being conceived round about then....urgh!
I remember it so well. We had been married for nearly a year and lived in a small flat with a secondhand black and white TV with a mind of it's own, it switched on and off when it felt like it! We had to leap out of our chair and thump the top of the wooden case the TV was encased in just on a specific spot (in fact we had a X marked in chalk LOL!) Apollo landed on the moon mid evening our uk time, but Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin were not allowed out of the space craft until about 5 or 6 hours later. We decided to go to bed, set the alarm and get up around 3pm to see them actually set foot on the moon and hear the immortal words, we sat with bated breath hoping our TV would behave and it did, thank goodness!

Cripes, I know The Mill !

It's near where you hire punts from Scudamore's.

I had lunch there, a few weeks ago.

I don't think I was there in 1969. Well, I say that. I was three, so I could've been anywhere, really.
Oddly, I don't remember the moon landing but I do remember the first orbiting of the moon by Apollo 8 in 1968 (thereby experiencing - at least the crew of the spacecraft did) "earthrise".
Whaty is odd about that in turn is that I have no recollection of the fact that it was also Christmas Eve ...

Ah yes Ann, I remember those telly's very well.
Not remembering Christmas Eve is not uncommon.

Even on Christmas morning!
