You know when you hear a "New"song and it reminds you of another, so does anyone think like me that the new Toploader song "This is the Night" sounds like a modern take of Phill Collins "Something Happened on the way to the Party". Or perhaps not.

Yes it does sound the same
If you mean Something Happened on the Way to Heaven then I'd have to say not really, that begins with a big drum intro quickly followed by a horn section.

Others may agree though.

Hi Chill,

I'm talking about the tracks as a whole being a modern take on it
Not really. They're both in 4/4 and both begin in Cmin, I'll give you that!
Sound very very similar...

I love both tunes so i'm not criticising, just that when I finished hearing the new one I could hear Phil Collins singing parts of the other one. Which made me compare
It does sound similar, but since it appears that Toploader are seriously lacking in originality, it is what we should expect.

Their only claim to fame was their horribly twee and seriously over-aired version of Dancing In The Moonlight, before they sensibly split up.

Now it appears they have returned to afflict us with their vapid derivative pop nonsense. Saints preserve us!
Oh Andy, I knew this day would come.

I agree.
