Hereford Cathedral

We had a lovely day out in Hereford yesterday. Perfect weather....blue skies, with small fluffy little clouds like cotton wool...warm but not too hot.
We parked by the river and had a walk in the water meadows, over the Victoria Bridge, and had a stroll around town and then lunch in the garden of a small bistro called La Madeleine ( I think ! )
Then spent 1.5 hours looking around the Cathedral. What a lovely place, not so big that we felt overwhelmed as we did at York. Beautiful stained glass windows. Almost had the place to ourselves !
Can I recommend Hereford for a wonderful day out, if you live within a couple of hours driving. Can't wait to return !

I was stationed down there in 1972/73 Mikey and we had our passing out service in the cathedral. Had a couple of visits since then and I've always enjoyed it. Mikey, the base at Credenhill would have been able to take a plane landing - the roads at the bottom of the base were very wide. However, I don't think there was any aircraft movement at the base. As an aside, if you google RAF Hereford it comes up with 5 images - the middle one is of our apprentice entry and on close inspection, it would appear that I'm on the 3rd row 3rd from the left!!
