The refrain was something like 'and the walls came down. It's from late sixties, sounded like walker brothers, just about the same time as  'the sun ain't gonna shine anymore' (so, pls no style council, def leppard, call etc). Anyone?

The Night That The Wall came Down by Stiff Little Fingers????????????
Hee hee, Jake Burns the Sixties crooner! I have a strange image in my head now, Minty !!
Could it be Breaking Down The Walls of Heartache by Johnny Johnson and The Bandwagon? It was a hit in 1969, so would be about the right time.

It was by The Marbles and the title was The Walls Fell Down.

Their big hit was Only One Woman.
