It's All In The Detail ... Worst Map Ever

So I get home today after a couple of days with the BF ...

I cycle to Waitrose, chain my bike to the tree outside the shop, pick up a few bits, and then wander along to a jolly pub called The Paris House ...

Where I pick up a copy of "The Brighton And Hove Cycle Map".

Pubs here always have piles of stuff to read on the window ledges. Various magazines like Latest 7, Brighton Visitor, Inside, XYZ, etc, and leaflets about gigs. Stuff like that.

And, today ... The Brighton And Hove Cycle Map

Hey, cool, I think to myself. I'll check out the hidden cycle routes around the town.

I don't look at the map in the pub. I wait until later, at home ... just now, in fact ... to discover the exciting two wheeled adventures which lie in wait.

And ...

It's an ordinary map of the city, on which they have put red and white dotted lines along the sea front, and around Preston Park.

Err, that's it!

Actually, apart from the obvious ones, you do seem to be rather short of cycle routes around your way, JJ:

We have a giant screen on the beach at the mo. You can stand on the beach, get ratted at the beer tents, and watch the World Cup, or a late night movie.

Chris ... there is the little known (and slightly unofficial) "downhill all the way" cycle route from Waitrose, along the Western Road, down the steps outside Churchill Square, over the crossing, left past Choccywokkydoodaah, through the ped zone, past The Victory, right at The Seven Stars, past The Cricketers and Jamie's Italian, over the lights outside The Thistle, across the prom, down the slope the Fortune Of War, and ...

You can do the whole journey without pedalling.

(as long as no pedestrians get in your way)

Nothing to do with Brighton but the worst map I ever bought was printed in Germany. I wondered at the time why it seemed very reasonably priced and on further checking at home, I discovered they had omitted New Zealand.
