But then I remember I was once with a occasionally violent partner and you dont listen to advice - and think you are "in love" and it will change. So I dont say anything to these unfortunate people.
I agree entirely with Mr Ed - I'm not daft :)
... but (you just sort of heard that 'but' coming didn't you?) .. it's sometimes a very fine line between 'answering the question' and 'being judgemental'.
To give a generic example (based on several real questions/answers), how about someone who is asking for advice on reclaiming bank charges for late payment on a credit card.
If I give some ideas on words to use in a letter/email that's fine - but it doesn't seem (to me) unreasonable to add a rider to my answer along the lines of "paying a couple of days earlier in future will avoid this situation recurring".
But I've had answers of this type zapped and a waving of admonitory fingers in my direction.

sinderella..........there is no foolproof method of ensuring the survival of your post on a thread. it depends upon who is on AB, which Mod, what mood they are in, if you are being "judgmental and not giving an opinion, I have even seen Ed make comments on a thread which had it of been anyone else, would have been removed.
Say what you have to say...........and if it is reported and removed, then ...so be it." Better to have loved and lost than have never loved at all" (I have no idea what that has got to do with it.LOL)
There will be some who say I have never had a post removed......and that is true........those are the ones that i would not turn my back on.
Happy posting sindy.

I think sometimes that's exactly what people need to hear, boo. If a factual reply is asked for - that's what they want, but when there's a more complicated "situation", i think it's quite natural to have an opinion. I'm sure that's why they post the extra details. I try to reply as I would to a friend, good or bad, but with their best interests at heart.
